So tired after the trip!

Here's a few more from the show.  All very different and creative!

I did a log cabin similar to this 20 years ago, but mine was for a double bed.  It's over in England.

Love the composition of this one.  Nice colors.

I didn't see the 9 until I looked through the camera!  Very clever.

My colors!

This was all big stitches!  there were several that were hand quilted!  So that is not disappearing.

Nicely done.

Just a fun play of the pattern and colors.

And some were covered with machine quilting.  Nice setup.

Simple is great!

i spy!  Love all the circles.

Very well done!

energy in some of them.

And this one is "My Cat Is A Jerk".  Too clever.

Shows are inspiring to me.  I don't always like all the quilts in any show.  I also would have chosen others for ribbons than the judges.

So why do you quilt?  For the love of fabric?  Do you want to win?  Or just put them in to see them hanging up?  Presents, or give to a charity?  It's all wonderful to sew and make the fabric into great designs.  I love to just make and have a joke in it.  Have fun and enjoy the process.  You usually end up with the quilt at home!  They should make you smile, or someone should love them!

Eye Candy!

The Modern Quilt show was fun!  Lots to see, and things to talk about.

Just drove home today and will keep posting some of the pictures in the days to come.

Love the raccoon hiding in this one!

There were so many that were spectacular.  And several that just didn't float my boat.

Colors were terrific.

Gradations were wonderful.

City subways!  Several map quilts there.

Simple is really good!

Some black and white surprises.

Colored threads made this one great.

And the surprise 9 patch.

More to come in the next few days!

Happy Valentines Day!!!

Here is my valentine from Terry!  And the big bag of Mints!!!  Love the card!  I'm still giggling about it!

Finished this one!  Lots of hand quilting on it!  Just fun one.  Took a long time to quilt it!  "Spare Logs" is for sale!

Got this one done!  An Air Guitar!  or fabric Guitar.  Needs a name!

Did the strings with the big stitch.

Started in on this Hawaiian design.   Something about that bright green was bugging me.  Looked great in a stack, but once its cut out, not so much.  So?  Do I remove that green and cut another?  Nope!

Cut out a second green and putting it over the first green so that the lighter green will show around the edges once I'm done.  More applique, but it'll be worth it!

See?!  I'm basting it now... I wanted to have one to take around to places to work on... but this one is too big for that.  It's about 66" square.  I wanted something about 42" square.  So I did go to Amazon and ordered some books.  Got 4 of the 5 so far... now the one with the interesting patterns didn't come with actual patterns... I will be drafting things.  Not the most fun, but I'll be able to get it to the size I want.

So what do you do when you can't find the pattern?  Make up your own!  It's not that hard.  And if it get's goofed up in anyway, well it's your own design!  It was a creative decision!  You don't have to make things exactly like everyone else does!  It's more fun to have something orginal and have people wonder how you did it... trial and error, I mean trial and create!  Just remember, it's the process that is fun, not just the outcome.

One done!

So sweet to get the quilting done!  Need to trim the edges and do binding.... piece of cake!  This is one side,

and this is the other.  There are 9 blocks.

Lots of straight line quilting.

Love the back!!!  Had to add in a couple of sections to make the backing big enough.

I love the quilting!

And here's more of the additions.

This is a disappearing 9 patch that is now basted.  I also basted another quilt just before this one.  Winter is a wonderful time to stay indoors and quilt!!!

Are you quilting!?  Are you looking at all the fabrics and color combinations?!  It helps me with the winter blues... My favorite color, but not the best emotion... I have so many quilts waiting to be quilted now.  So it's back to "work" I go!
