Hot Flash!

Starting a new quilt is always fun for  me!  Got the fabrics out to play with.  Has to be HOT colors for this one.

Cut out 5" strips, then sew them together to have 3 different groups.  two are with dark, light, dark strips.  One is with light, med, light strips.

So you cut the strips into 5" sections and make 9 patch blocks.

Then you cut them in half up and down, and across.

Turn 2 of  the opposite corners, to change the design.

sew those back together.

This ended up being 4 x 5 blocks.

This is for the Hospitality House.  The Oak Ridge guild gives them quilts to donate to people staying there that are going through chemo treatments.  People get very cold during that.  So we give them quilts to help them through it all.  They get to keep the quilts.

Each guild I'm in now, and all other quilt guilds always give quilts away to people in need.  It makes people feel good, and we feel great making them and giving them away to help.  I probably wouldn't make a quilt in this color group otherwise, and I had a fun time working on it!

I thought it would be fun to show you from a pile of fabric to the quilt top.  Might put borders on it, just haven't made up my mind yet!

Quilts change as I work on them.  It's fun to see what actually gets finished.  Do you plan the whole quilt out?  Or do you just see what happens?

Now go cut something out!
