Home and tired....

San Diego is a wonderful place to go visit.  We ate at Mitch's Place right on the harbor the first night there.  Walked to it from our hotel.

This was the view out the window.  Had seafood, of course!

Went to watch the sun go down!  Air was quite chilly!

All those little dots out in the water are the surfers.  Great waves coming in.

More dots!

Next day we took the trolley around the city.  Very interesting.  Then we went to the harbor and watched a Chiness ship get pushed into the dock.  2 China boats came in for a special reception.

It was amazing to watch the tugs maneuver the ship.

Now this boat was at the other dock.  Does it look like a very BIG sewing machine sitting on the front to anyone else?!  I laughed and laughed!

There were seals on some of the docks.  They were barking at something.

There is the Midway aircraft carrier.  Very impressive!  We spent the day on that!

Very compact inside, and the deck seemed large until you thought about the planes landing and taking off from it!

There were retired military men there as volunteers to help with questions and tell you stories.  They made it more real.  I got the tape recorder and listened to more stories told by the men who actually served on these and flew the planes.

You could see this statue from the deck.

this was another boat at the dock,

As well as this one.

Then we drove up to the top of a mountain, and there was this memorial for people who has lost their lives and had been in the service.

It was the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, so flags were at half staff.

Ok, I recognized him,

and him.

back to the next beach.  More surfers!

I love this pier.  You can stay in a cabin up over the water!

All the businesses there, each had made a wreath and it was on the dock.

there are the cabins.  And there was room for one car to be parked by each cabin.

More to come at a later time.  I love the beach and would love to go back there.  The cabins aren't cheap, but they are within walking distance of every thing.  You can sleep with the sound of the waves right underneath you!
Barely got things unpacked and washed.  Some left in the dryer right now... My case was opened by the TSA, and looked into.  My dirty laundry wasn't very interesting... but they did look at the books and probably could have cared less that they were quilting books.
Quilt meeting tomorrow morning!  Need to be around quilters!  Almost 2 weeks without sewing or hanging out with anyone who quilts!
