San Diego is a wonderful place to go visit. We ate at Mitch's Place right on the harbor the first night there. Walked to it from our hotel.
Next day we took the trolley around the city. Very interesting. Then we went to the harbor and watched a Chiness ship get pushed into the dock. 2 China boats came in for a special reception.
Now this boat was at the other dock. Does it look like a very BIG sewing machine sitting on the front to anyone else?! I laughed and laughed!
Very compact inside, and the deck seemed large until you thought about the planes landing and taking off from it!
There were retired military men there as volunteers to help with questions and tell you stories. They made it more real. I got the tape recorder and listened to more stories told by the men who actually served on these and flew the planes.
Then we drove up to the top of a mountain, and there was this memorial for people who has lost their lives and had been in the service.
More to come at a later time. I love the beach and would love to go back there. The cabins aren't cheap, but they are within walking distance of every thing. You can sleep with the sound of the waves right underneath you!
Barely got things unpacked and washed. Some left in the dryer right now... My case was opened by the TSA, and looked into. My dirty laundry wasn't very interesting... but they did look at the books and probably could have cared less that they were quilting books.
Quilt meeting tomorrow morning! Need to be around quilters! Almost 2 weeks without sewing or hanging out with anyone who quilts!
