Here's the scrappy blocks that I have sewn mostly out of my scrap bags!  I love bright colors!

And here are the blocks with the sashing and border.  Turned out fun!  It's 72 by 66".  So if anyone is interested in buying this one, send me a comment.

This is one for a customer.  One of the last I will do for commission work.

She sends me the pattern and fabrics and I make it from the beginning to end.  Plenty of open space to quilt!

I have made some more bags to sell at the Holiday Sale at the Art Center in November.  Two weekends before Thanksgiving is the sale.

Love these women, so they are on great bags to carry your sewing things.

I love the red zipper fabric in the back ground!  Wish I had gotten more of it when I saw it!
That's why so many people buy fabrics.  When you see it, you have to get it!  You may never find it again.  They go out of print so quickly, and shops all carry such different fabrics.  So I have a wonderful stash at home to play with.  Just been having more fun making things for now reason!  But this also adds to my Christmas giving list of goodies!
It's been in the 90's for so long now.  I can't do much out in the heat  when it's like this.  Not that I do a lot out there anyways, but it's terrible now.  And they had a bad air quality day too.  So you come in with a big head ache from that.
You can blame so much on the weather.  But it's all good when you can stay in the sewing room and have fun!  When I was a kid and went to Mom and said I was bored....she would pull out all kinds of stuff and say, "why don't you make something."  And so I did.  All the time.
They are starting work on the driveway.  So Monday they will have the jackhammer out there to break up the old concrete drive and take that away.  Then they will widen the drive and put in drainage.  So I will be parking in the neighbor's drive until they are done.   The noise will be starting at 7:30am.  I told them not to work into the heat of the afternoon.  I don't want guys all over my front lawn from heat exhaustion!  We will see how this goes!

Looking at things that I have done and gotten!

I picked up these spools that were used in big machines.  You can tell by the side that has the grooves in it.

I love wooden things and spools.  There is a sock darner in the basket too.  I have quite a few of those.  The shapes are fun.  I got one in an antique shop once.  The very young woman at the desk said, " oh!  You got the masher."  She thought you would use it in the kitchen to mash something!  I had to explain what it really was.  She thought I was crazy that people would darn their socks instead of just throwing them out!

I got this guitar case a while ago.  And have been doing modge podge on it.  Fabric and paper.  Covered the inside of this one with fabric.  Used it once, and I got 2 sweaters and a pair of shoes in it.  I do not play guitar.  I'm using it for a suitcase.

I also covered these.  They were the forms that came in a pair of sneakers!  I have plans for these....

I finished  this 9 patch quilt.  All hand quilted and ready to sell.  Asking $750 and shipping.

Different angle to see some of the quilting.

I love the colors and the flower print!

This is "Split Squares", and it's for sale.

Very bright colors and fun!  Also $750 plus shipping.  If you have questions, just put them in the comments and I'll email from that.

Another fun thing that I made is this covered cotton rope necklace!  It was a practice piece to see about doing this.  It was fun and pretty easy to make.
I was just outside for about 20 minutes, and so sweaty!  Just so humid and hot.  I have 2 fans going in the sewing room just to keep the air moving.  So not working on big quilts right now.  Doing smaller pieces and finishing other projects.
I can see where people live when they check out my blog... very interesting!  Mauritius had about 113 hits one day!  It's a small island east of Madagascar.  Strange, but I'm keeping an eye on where the hits come from.....  have trouble believing that there are that many quilters, all with computers that all wanted to check out the blog.  ?
Had a great lunch out with some friends.  Older women who keep me in line!  They are a blast!  My Mom used  to tell me that you should have friends of every age.  The older ones have experience and can help out.  The younger ones can keep you informed of all the new stuff out there!  Good idea to me!
So?!  What are you working on?  New ideas?  Finishing up things that have been in a pile for a while?  I have a fun piece that is fairly small that I'm just playing around and quilting very differently for me.  Isn't that why we are doing this!  So I'm going back to work in here and have a wine cooler later.  It's my anniversary!  35 years!  Terry will be back from work tomorrow, and we'll go out later this week.  I figure, as long as we celebrate some time this year, that works for me!

Norris quilt show on the 4th

What a variety of quilts this time!  Love the whales!

It's a part that folds over from the back.  Very cute!

Always room for tigger!  The baby quilts looked so cozy.

This one was is a pattern, but the maker changed several things to make it more personal.  Took a blue ribbon!

Colorful Town!  Pat has moved to Georgia, but she made sure her quilt was here.

The challenge was to make a still life.  Mine is the rusty truck with a flat tire!  Got a second place ribbon!  The yellow tea pot was third,

and the flowers were first place.  I voted for the flowers!  Just too pretty!  I think most little boys voted for the truck.

There is "Warp 9".  A 9 patch design with a star trek joke in it!  Got a second place on it!

More in this wall hanging group.  Lots of fun designs.

this was the first place ribbon in the wallhanging group.  I love it!  Just so sweet.

Close up of one block.  The fabrics just made it wonderful.

That's mine!  A fun one about the first day of spring.  The birds figure out a way to kiss even though their height is so different.

great quilt for kids!!!  Just love the crayons!

Very modern one by Sally!

Love the Hawaiian one!  I need to get another one lined up to work on.  They are very soothing to work on.  And the bargello one is very well done!

Here's another close up of the little quilt.  I just love the flowers and birds.  Each block is so different and fun.

This is the one of my family's pictures.  My son took a lot of the pictures in this one.  I grouped them by family events, and earlier years at the top.  Lots of hand quilting in this one.
Lots of wonderful appliqued quilts this year!  I love this one!  Just soft and creative.

The house reminds me of ginger bread houses.
It's is a small show that had a great selection of quilts.  Go to all sized shows.  So many women are hesitant to enter, but the small shows really do have great quilts.  The great big shows will knock your socks off, and some women get intimidated by the winners.  Well if you are making quilts to just win at shows, then get extra socks.  But if you are making them for fun and to be creative, remember, you get to keep those!!!
4th of July in Norris is the best.  I love going there.  The Dog Show with the kids and their pets.  Home baked pies, I got a chocolate pecan this year!  The BBQ chicken lunch by the Lions Club was good.  I got there early enough to get chicken this year.  Got books at the library, they sell some every year to get new books.  I love to watch the kids with their races and going down the slip and slide.  Every age group is out and about.  Dogs every where and they all are behaving.  And the wonderful quilt show.  I spent most of the afternoon there.  It was so hot outside.  Got up to 97!  People were coming in to cool off, but they really did love the quilts.
So it's raining today, a nice steady rain.  I do love that.  Seems to clean everything off and the plants almost look like they could sing in the shower.  I'm taking it easy today and will get to my quilting.  Laundry is almost done, but it can sit in the dryer for a while.  Got an English movie from the library sale.  It's true English humor... so now I can quilt!
