Busy, Busy....

Did finish this one.  It was fun and quick.

And here's the state of my sewing room.  Sorry the picture is out of focus.  Camera does that sometimes.

This one is better....or it makes the mess look larger.

This one I have been working on more.  I took off the blue/white swirly part and stitched onto the dark blue background.  Then I made a swirl out of the green.  You have to be open to changing things if they don't seem right to you.

Then for something quick!  I did a cord bowl.  The cording is a polyester blend, and very easy to quilt through.

Once I had made the bottom part, it needed the top!  I have made handles for the bottom, but they need to be different than what I made.

So here is the top part.  I love making these things.  gets done in an hour or two.I did like making this, but probably wont make another!  It was like wrestling a bear when you are adding on the last row of blocks.
So there is some gardening going on.  Adding to a new "bed" and will have a tree brought out and planted.  We are beginning to understand that others can do things much easier than we can.  Just feeling my age today!
I ran in to 2 people that I haven't seen in a very long time!  both of them have started quilting!  So one I told about the guild in Oak Ridge.  Hope she comes to it!
Anyway, I am very tired today and will quilt slowly.  But still quilting!

Eye Candy!!!

The Pigeon Forge Show is on today.  We went on Thursday.  So here's some of the quilts.  Best of show was really well done.

I'm into bright colors and fun designs.  So that's what I took a lot of pictures of those kinds of quilts.

Very nice applique.

Just fun!

A stripy quilt looked much better there than this picture.

I loved the bike in the middle.  Can't say I have seen a pattern for this quilt.  But I have stopped looking at patterns for a long time.

Nice bargello.

This one was striking from a distance, and then up close.  Great double "wow" factor.

Very nice machine quilting!

There must have been a class for this kind of log cabin.  There were several done in this pattern.

Fun Quilt!

Had the flowers all meet right in the blocks.

Very well done cabin.  I still couldn't figure out the judges way of thinking.....

This was interestingly done.

Cheese cloth used for the waterfall.

Nice one!

Twinkle Toes!  Very cute!

There are patterns for the embroidery ones.

And all bee ones are cute!  Says, Honey, I'm home!

Lots of cat ones there also.

This got a third place!  Really nice quilting.

Several of this pattern were done too.  Must have been another class.

Then some were just great to look at!

Nicely done!!!

I love the oil cans that are embroidered on the top!

Bright colors and nice placement.

Paper piecing is not my thing, and I do love seeing them done well.  I would be struggling on the second block and give up.

This is on the modern side!  Not many in the design way.

I'm into circles and the quilting was done by hand using the big stitch.

This actually looks cooler in the picture.  The black and white fabrics were so busy, you couldn't really tell there was a swirling design there.

This is just plain fun!

Wonderful work.

This was for sale.  I forgot to ask how much.  It was a beautiful blue, with all kinds of bead work done in the center part.

The boats were so good!  Had actual rope going through the quilt.

And a very bright happy quilt.  House Party is this one!  The birds all have party hats on!
The show had hand quilted quilts in a separate category, which was nice to see.  The machine quilting was good, but to me, it always seems like way too much in those.
Vendors were really good this year.  I'm at a point that I don't have to come home with a ton of fabrics!  I did get one of that small irons that are out now.  Have to see how that works.  Saw lots of friends up there!  Just great to go to the show!
They have put the food place right in the middle, which is great!  you can go sit down any time and rest your feet.  The weather was great!  Warm and sunny.
Now I'm trying to finish up that machine quilt work.  Almost done.  But the bigger it gets, the more it's like wrestling a bear... I will post pictures of it soon!
Go to shows and get excited about doing more!  You know you have the fabrics for more quilts!!!

a top resurfaced, and a new one begins!

This top I started quite a while ago.  Never liked the white with spots fabric once it was appliqued on. So I'm taking the 2 sections off and putting on a different color...

They will be green swirls instead.  Matches green swirl in the middle of the pink circle.  Was working on this for over a week.  So slow going!
Also had to clear out some of the garden beds.  Not my favorite things to do!

So I came a cross this pattern with the templates.  Have been wanting to make this one for some time.  You know, you pick it up at a yard sale, or somewhere... and it waits and waits.  So I'm doing it with the Zig and the Zag of it technique.

You actually quilt the fabrics up first.  Then you cut out the pieces and zig/zag them together!

See...3 layers to quilt up. 2 different blues.  It will be reversible when it's done.

Here's the first few pieces up on the design wall.  Quilting as much as I need each time I cut out a row.  It's easier than trying to quilt the whole piece of fabric and batting.  It's about 30" x width of the fabrics.
Fun to use a different technique once in a while.  it gets done right away.  Lots of thread to do this one, so make sure you have several bobbins wound up at first.
Love spring with the trees starting to bloom!  As much as I do like being outside... I'd rather be in quilting.  I was watching the tiny house shows, they are cute, but there's no room for a fabric collector!  I wouldn't mind cruising around in one like my parents did for 30 in a Winnie.  But I would need the house to come home to!
Patty, keep cutting!
