Been working on this one.

I love all the circles quilted in there.  Just doesn't look like enough to me.  I may have to set it aside and look at it later and see if anything comes to mind.

Did put in a few circles that look like they are behind the first layer.  But still doesn't look like enough.

I do like the stencil in the colors.  like a piece of string that got away.

So I did 2 lines in the wider strips.
So this was what I was doing over  the holidays, besides working on the one in the frame.  Had a great Christmas with Terry.  We had gotten each other fun things.  Laughed so much and then had lamb for dinner!  Terry almost didn't get home in time....the weather was bad down in the gulf, so it was later in the day that he got off that.  Then he had to change his flights to the day before Christmas.  Do you know they charged him over $600 to just change the flights!  Outrageous.
I think that so many people go over board with holidays.  It pushes time to go by so much faster with all that we think we have to do.  I put up stockings and the Christmas cards that we get every year.  I didn't get to that yet, so I'll be answering cards in the months to come.  You know, when you are snowed in....
The new year is almost here.  One year my resolution was to FINISH a project every month or I couldn't start any others.  You'd be surprised how many you find in the room that just needs binding or something else.  You look at them and try to figure out why you were stuck!  I dont' have any resolutions per say.  But I am stopping from taking in things from customers.  I plan on making my own designs and selling things on line.  I have well over 100 quilts here and probably enough fabric to triple that.  So some I will post on this blog.
I do know a person who sets up I'm going to give that a try also.  Just don't want to be so busy with selling that I'm not quilting.  So when I post something and you are interested, send me an email and we'll talk.
Don't stay up too late on New Year's Eve.  You will want to sew straight lines the next day!

Getting more done around here.

This one is all quilted!  It's the Hawaiian flag.

In the flag, the quilting looks like the flag is waving, and there are whales swimming!  Did blue thread in the white, and white thread in the red and blue stripes.

In the center part, did echo quilting aroung all the applique.  Turned out really, really nice!

Now I'm basting!  I made 2 tops with similar blocks and just set them in differently.

Here's the first one.  Looks more like plaid.  The other one, I seem to have forgotten to take a picture!  But the smaller blocks run in diagonal lines in the quilt.

Now I'm basting this "modern" quilt.  Not sure how I will quilt it yet.  But the table was cleared off enough that I could baste up the smaller quilts.  I get several basted and ready to take to bee every week.  They don't get done as fast, but they do get done.
I wasn't feeling good all weekend.  But I did get packages wrapped and ready to mail.  Got a few other things done, but not a lot of energy.  So Monday, I went and worked out.  Dragged my butt there.  Then stood in line at the post office for 30 minutes to mail packages... then got in at the dr's office.  Waited until 11:30 for the 10:45 appointment.  I have a UTI.... could barely pee in the cup.  Wonder if that could stand for Ulterior motive infection.  Nay...I was trying to laugh at myself.
The med that she gave me is pretty strong.  So I'm only basting today.  Fortunately I don't have to do much, so I'll eat chicken soup for lunch and take a nap.  I hate being sick.  This one is all inside and just makes you miserable.  I'd rather be picking out fabric for something else to start.  But if I did that now, no telling how bad it would end up.
So?  Do you only start projects when you are in a certain frame of mind?  Only good frame of mind?  It's easy to start something for a new baby or graduation, or wedding.  But if you don't feel good and still want to sew, what do you do?
I read a story in a quilt magazine a long time ago, when they used to put in stories about quilters, and this one woman dyed all her award winning quilts black.  Now this was set in a time when they had the great big kettles outside and you had to fill them with water and light a fire under them once a week to wash clothes.  Her husband died and she dyed the quilts black.  I guess now that I'm older and older members of my family have died, I understand it better than when I was in my late 20's.  I still don't think I would do that, but it would be a while before I could work with bright colors.
Sorry for being so dreary just before Christmas.  Hubby is at work and I'm dragging around the house.  Still have more presents to finish wrapping up.  this better be over by next week!!!!  I love being happy and making things, so one out of two today is still good.
Don't work too hard these holidays.  They are for enjoying and seeing people.  If you don't get everything done on that long list, it's ok!  In the end everything will be alright.  If it's not alright, then it's not the end!

Seems like you finish a lot all of a sudden....

Here's my fun birds!  Love just doing things that make you smile!

This was a 6 block pack that I got at one of the guild's yard sales...and I made a long table runner out of the blocks.  No batting in this one so things don't tip over on the tables.

last two blocks not seen in the picture.

This is the Hawaiian flag quilt that is out of the frame and I'm quilting out to the edges.  Just love this one!!!

Put this one in the frame and will get to it very soon!!!  Star in the middle and wide borders in Yellow!  Very cool older quilt that was saved from never getting done.

And 2 president blocks for 2 different guilds!  The deserve at least a block after a whole year of herding cats.... you'll get that in a second....
Still no bedroom furniture yet.  And a guy is coming up Monday to put in the last light in the bedroom.  Been having a lot of trouble with this light!  Still need shelving up in the closet.  Not that we have forgotten about this, but all of a sudden, it's holiday time!  I'm not ready for all of that!!!  Had to hurry up to mail a box to England to fun little relatives!  Didn't do the turkey thing, but we went away for that weekend.  Went driving at the track near Atlanta.  Great time!   Love driving.  We have another car for the track and I wasnt' used to the car yet.  So I did spin off the track at corner one.  Stopped the session so they could pull me out of the gravel.  Very interesting spinning out!  At least I didn't hit the 2 walls close by or damage the car.  It did take 2 hours to get all the gravel out from underneath it!  It was every where!!!
Then we went to look at the professional photographer's pictures...and she had been behind the second great shots of the gravel spraying up like a wave.  We ordered the CD.  What the hell.  Got to have proof of the fun!  I got really good at the end of the 2 days.  This car doesn't have as much horse power as our other car.  But in the curvy sections, I was leaving guys in the dust!  Making a gap!  YEA!  Too much fun!  There were only 2 women out there.  So we have to show off a little bit!
Now back to "reality"...which we will be rewriting the diffinition of that.  Got to get back to my favorite thing...quilting!  and some Christmas shopping.  I usually have everything for Christmas done by now, but things just aren't ready here!
So what?
Life is good.  I don't hear from some people all year and I want to send them a card, or call them.  Postage is getting so bad, and shipping is worse.  Most people have all they need and more, so just letting them know you care and think about them is the best thing you can do.
I will try to down load a picture or two of the car.  We really did have fun.  Next year's schedule can't start soon enough for driving events!
Get ready, get set, CHRISTMAS CHEER!
Have a good one!

Here's what I have been working on!

What color is your flamingo?  Mine is blue.  She quit eating the algee that turns them pink.  She always wanted to be the star in Swan Lake!  So there you have it!  A blue flamingo in a tutu.  I love it!

Time to make the blocks for presidents of guilds.  I'm in 3 guilds!  The 3rd one wants a fat quarter of green!

I got this panel with the 2 in the next picture, and this one is all quilted up.  It was so cute.  I usually don't get Christmas things done until February... so I'm way ahead this year!

These aren't quilted yet.  But they are basted.  I may have time before Christmas...but thiings are getting lined up and the calendar is looking full and crazy!

These are the flowers that Terry sent to me when I was having a really, really bad day.  I'm not sure I posted the pictures.  The flowers seemed to glow.

This is a coat that I got for $5 at an estate sale!  It fit me so well!  I see a blank canvas.. It's not as dull a color as it is in the picture.  Just a lot of light coming in the window.
So I have plenty more to go.  I pieced 2 tops that are 50 x 50".  Will want to quilt those up. Also got a modern top that I want to quilt.  Along with the one in the frame and the last one in for a customer.  She's been very patient.
Thanksgiving is a quiet holiday for us.  and the weekend will be our kind of fun!!!  Guess!
I cut my thumb on the rotary cutter yesterday.  So my typing is a bit bad.  But I can still sew!  Did get to the sale at Quick Cuts in Clinton also, on Saturday.  I believe it is going on today too.  Love the new fabrics I got.  So there are more ideas stirring in my head!  Never enough time or energy to keep up with myself!

Where has this month gone!

I have been so busy trying to get the house ready for cold weather, and it got here earlier than "normal"!  I really want to hibernate but there is more to get done.

I am in 3 guilds, and I love them all.  I'm trying to remember what I'm supposed to bring to each meeting.  Food, exchange presents, show and tell...and each guild is looking for volunteers to run the guild and all the activities.  I have been in charge of so many things over the years that I really want a break.  I don't mind helping out, becaus it can be lots of fun....but sometimes you get told how to do your job...and I figure the tellers should have been in charge on the first place.  Well that's my little rant.

I have been in the sewing room a lot.  Got several smaller tops pieced, got the backing and binding together and in bags.  Need to have a basting day soon!  It means clearing off my table...not and easy feat with all the fabrics I dragged out to play around with.  And then I caught my thumb on the rotary cutter.  Bled well and is still throbbing.  So I'm taking a break for a while.  Don't want blood on any fabric.

I guess it's a big eating day coming up...but I'm not cooking a big meal.  I'll quilt while Terry works on the cars or in his workshop.  Nice time together...just not what everybody else does!  And we won't be going shopping either!

So keep sewing.  Just watch out for the sharp things!  Patty

Was delivered today...

Yes, we have a new "toy".  Its a track car with a roll bar set up and the proper seats to be on the track.  It's a rebuilt car, not brand new... but it looks fast!

Got our names on it!  Now we need a sponcer!  Money and a pit crew would be nice!

Here it is in the garage.  Notice the piece of wood holding up the hood?  It doesn't come with that, it adds weight to the car.  (Heaven forbid it.)

And the proper seats!  Except that I'm so short!  I will have to make a cushion that is a wedge shape so my butt is up higher!  What do the smaller guys do?  Well, they have more money and can get a seat just made for them.  This also means that I can never put on weight or I won't be able to fit in them.  I also will have to take yoga so I can do the climb into the car.  Don't have to go in through the window, but there are roll bars beside the seats that don't move.  It's tricky...not as bad as the General E. Lee car...
So we will be doing track weekends whenever we can!  And I'll be quilting the rest of the time.  Good mixture.  I'm a speed-quilter!
Next time I blog, there will be quilt pictures!  My laptop has been worked on by Terry and things seem to all be back in there!  Now to find time to be on the putor again!

I'm BACK!!!

OMG!  I had Terry working on my putor so I could down load pictures from my camera!!!  I found my password to get into this site again.  I'm telling you, I never thought I was so attached to the putor!
This is my dancing, blue flamingo!  Love it!  Don't need too much pink... not sure of the name for it yet, either.

This is one that I have gotten done with.  Nice 9 Patch!  This is before I cut open a few spaces.  It's "Warp 9".  On the back is the label with this.... "Scotty!  We need more power!  Warp 9 is not good enough."  "I'm giving it all she's got!  She's coming apart at the seams!"  (that's why there are some cuts in the 9patch parts.)

Yea, it's crazy on the eyes in the picture.  But it was so fun to work on!!!

This is one that I made from start to finish.  Got to mail it out soon.  It turned out really well!!!  Love the softness of it.

And here's an older one that I made a long time ago!  Love the dragon.  If anyone is interested in buying this one, just send me a comment with your email address.  I'm going to start to sell my quilts on line.
When I was moving the quilts, and quilts, and quilts up from the basement back into the storage room upstairs, I realized that I have soooooo many.  Time to thin the herd.  It was fun going through containers and finding them!  Like Christmas, and I love every one of them.  So I will be posting more as the time goes by.  I also want to set up a webpage just for selling them.  That's for the next year's project.  Not a resolution.  I have been wanting to do that for sometime.
I have stopped taking quilts in from customers and plan on just having fun making my own designs!  Can't think of anything more fun than that!!!  I have plenty of fabrics to play with and lots of ideas, like blue flamingoes!  Computor problems may keep me from staying in touch, but I'm quilting and sewing most of the time!!!

Hi Everyone!  My laptop is home and Terry is reloading programs.   Not sure when I'll get back on it... Hopefully soon...

I have been quilting.  Got one done for a customer.  Another is in the frame and coming right along. I did make one to enter in Paducah's museum challenge, but didn't get pictures on to a CD.  Ah, well next show.

I put two sets of shelves together for the closet in the quilt storage room(son's old bedroom).  Filled in the cracks in the driveway with caulk, and vacuumed Terry's workshop.  Just more to do before winter sets in.  We went and ordered bedroom furniture!!  Married 33years and we are finally getting matching furniture,  not sure all the clothes we have will fit, but then maybe it's time to get rid of some.  Do you wear the stuff way in the back of the drawers?

Well, I can get rid of old socks and shirts easier then fabric!  Keep sewing...winter is a great time to quilt!  Patty

OK!  My lap top is visiting the Geek Guys!....the hard drive was sick.  So I don't know if any of my past information will be saved.   This stinks.  I'm using my IPad to do this.

Terry has another cold.  He must have gotten it at the track.  We went to the Porsche Masters Driving school, again!  I'm almost as fast as he is now!  He just gets on the gas out of the corners fast than me.  I'll work on that.

I also have to get working on quilts more.  I feel behind after colds and this trip.  There are a couple of challenges and contests coming up, and I got an idea for 2 of them.  Just takes time to get things going.

I should get back my lap top the end of next week.  I'll see if I can figure out how to get pictures on this too.  I want to set up a web site to start selling my quilts.  So stay tuned...

Feeling better after going to the Asheville quilt show!

First of all, I was feeling so badly 2 weekends ago, that Terry sent me flowers!

The colors are so wonderful!!!  Did cheer me up!

The Asheville quilt show is about 3 hours from Oak Ridge.  Gloria and I went up there in the morning and spent all afternoon there.  This was best of show.  My camera makes it look was a deep purple.  Not sure why it did that, but maybe it was the lighting.

This is by Linda Cantrel!  She always did the mini little people and scenes!  What a difference!
Circles were the big, and I mean BIG thing this time.  So many quilts had them either the main focus, or something in the background.

This was an outstanding quilt.  I can't seem to get in all the quilting.  And most quilts are machine quilted.

Loretta's on the left... the rocks were interesting.  The show was really set up nicely.

This quilted piece didn't look great up close, but in the camera, this looks painted.

I just love the vibrations in this one.

An amazing quilt.  Great applique work.

The rails were quilted and interwoven.  The leaves were one piece of fabric.  Very interesting!  At least the art category is getting well judged!

Modern quilts were well represented too.

This was a fantastic circle quilt.  I love it.

This is "Fire Light".  Does look like a campfire burning.  Very clever.

Modern with plenty of extra quilting.

I think this was a challenge.  Love the piano keys running through it.

Blue winner in the modern quilts.

This was all done with the pointiest fabrics.

I have this pattern at home and really want to do at least one chicken!!!  They are so cute!

And there's my sheep in the kid's category.  Now the blue ribbon winner in this category was about 15" x 20".  Does that sound like a quilt that kids would use.  It had a tremendous amount of things on the back of a turtle.  Oh, well... I get to keep my Happy Sheep!

And the dragon fly quilt was so much better than this picture.
I love the Asheville show.  They really do get many, many excellent quilts in there.  Vendors are great, yes, I came home with new fabrics that I haven't seen anywhere else.  We stopped at the one DQ in Canton...what a mess!  Their ice cream machine was sending out melted ice cream in blobs and farts.  It was going all over the place.  Guess the kids who know how to take care of things are all back in school.   To me, it's now a trip to a quilt show up there without DQ!!!  Bummer.  The closest one to us is a 36 mile round trip....just for ice cream?  I'll go to the store tomorrow and get some.
So enter local contests at least.  It is fun to go there and see your own work hanging up.  Everybody that I told which quilt was mine, knew it right away!  That means a lot to me!
