2 more basted!

This one is adorable!  I first thought the pieced blocks were randomly pieced, but it does look like flowers in a basket!  So the owner said I can quilt it how I want.  I want to quilt in the basket, stems, around the flowers and leaves.

There's a close up of the pieced block.

And the white blocks, I have marked with a feather wreath.  Very traditional.

This one is mine!  And it's basted now.  I'll work on it at bee and when I take a day for my own things...

These are the 3 waiting in line all basted, ready to go into the frame.  I have another in a box that will have to be pieced and appliqued.  And another quilt top to mark and baste.  A little elf's work is never done!

So how have the holidays been for you!?  Terry and I have been having fun and taking it easy.  The remodel will be starting in January, so if I don't write for a few weeks, it'll be because of the plaster dust and saw dust around here!

I got a Wacky Woman Calendar, and I love her sayings in there.  Here's one that I really love!
If you are going to do something foolish, do it with enthusiasm!!!

Binding is on!!!

Just finished sewing the binding on!  It's lovely! Tried to keep the uneven edges going on 3 sides.

This is the bottom edge!

Another view of the bottom.

And the 2 sides are like this one.  Great to see another quilt get done!!!

For Christmas I did get some fabric!  Prewashed and ready to go!

Terry also got me sharpeners for my cutting tools!!!  Great, because I have been saving all the old rotary blades!!!  So I'll be sharpening later.  I'll let you know how it goes.  I just don't want to draw blood!

We have been having a nice day!  Terry's out for a walk in the sunshine!  It's finally NOT overcast.  Mike will be over on Friday which is his day off.  Lovely to have time with Terry.  He's been working the night shift, so he's having trouble switching back to being up days.  I just feel like curling up for a nap myself!

Merry Christmas to everyone out there in blog land!  Hope you are all well and happy.  Now go cut up some fabric and have fun!!!

Out of the frame and quilting out to the edges.  Then the binding will go on.  Nice Sunday work.

Another quilt just came in from Hawaii!   I love this center part!  Trying not to drool on it!  Gorgeous applique work!!!

This one just went into the frame a day or two ago.  It's 9 patches even though you can't tell right away.  The center is 9 yellow blocks.  It is all straight line quilting on the patches.

I was given this dragon wall hanging by a Bee member.  I also got beautiful blue fabric with gold dragons printed on it.  I can see it coming together!

At one guild meeting I got the round pincushion for helping the guild doing challenges, and the other I got in the pincushion exchange!  Love the fabrics on that one!

Trying to get ready for Terry coming home.  Better attempt some cleaning!  And I'll finish wrapping up a few more things.  I will be ready...and I'll get more quilting in this afternoon.

Everyone have a Happy time over the next week or two!  Don't forget to play with fabric!
New Year's resolutions?
Start some new designs!  And finish some of the ones that are waiting!

Two sewing Machines for sale.

As we are clearing things out to get the remodel going, I really should get rid of a couple more sewing machines.  Don't worry, I still have several left... This first Singer is the original portable.  I think because it's not in a table.  It's pretty heavy, and it keep sewing and sewing.  I learned on this one.  It was my Mom's

Original footpetal, still in good shape, good wiring.

Here's the number if you want to look it up.  I think it's about 100 years old!  Boy did they make things to last.

Here's the pretty machine.  The bent wood cover is in good shape.  This is a straight stitch machine and can do a reverse stitch.  Takes regular sewing needles.  These usually run $75 when I have seen them in shops for sale.  So that's where I'll start.  Then that or best offer over that.

Now here's the Featherweight machine!  I just haven't used it.  The machine is in good shape.  The electrical cord needed to be replaced.  I bought one and just never swapped it over.  There is the button holer in the green little box.  Original 211 booklet with it, and the newer booklet that I found and bought.

The case is missing a latch.  So I did get an extra case at a sewing shop for $25.

Here's the extra case.  The machine fits in it nicely.

So all this goes together.  I would like to start at $350 and take the best offer over that.

"Meanwhile back at the ranch..."  I have been buying presents, making some, and wrapping them.  Not done yet.  But I'm taking a day to catch up on things in the sewing room!  Almost done with the Grandmother's Flower Garden that is in the frame.  So it's time to baste one to go right in.  Had to order some stencils to mark another one.  It will get traditional feather wreaths on the empty blocks.

I still don't get much time to finish my quilts.  I did get the Lone Star quilt done.  So that is for sale now.  Anyone interested, can leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

Last night was the party for the Oakridge guild.  It was a blast!  They do laugh a lot!  We had finger food, end of the year PHD contest was done, and the homemade pincushion exchange.  That was a blast!  So much creativity in those!!!  The woman who got my coffee cup cushion said it made her day!  And that made mine!  I got the pattern for that on line.  It was a free download.  I only made them to give away.  I did make one for myself!  Too cute!

So I'm watching animated kids films today.  Fun, music and a happy ending.  And now to iron backing and start the basting!

Two parties in two days!

Ok, for a sewing room, it's not too messy.  At least I'm getting things done!

At the Norris guild, we had our party on Wednesday.  They play the "dirty Santa" game.  You get to steal things from each other.  Ok, I guess.  But so many times I have played that game and gotten something I really like, and it's gone.

I tried to get pictures of people opening each thing.  It's like watching kids again on Christmas.

At least no one got socks and underwear!

Patterns, fabric, threads, rulers, and storage things were the most common there.

Loretta had this taken away!

Surprise!

I think she likes this one!

Then someone had to steal something....

Now over to Thursday Bee's party!  Lining up for food!  Got to say that all quilters can cook!!1

Lots to eat!  Hot soup, salads, and plenty of sweets!

We have our presents too.  But no stealing from each other....until....

Ah!  Nellie brought in a quilt she made.  This is the BACK!  Very cool.

Here's the front.  She takes our itty bitty scraps and keeps adding on and makes great quilts!

So here's Deb with the number one.  We drew numbers to see who went first!  ( I went around with the numbers and got the highest number.)

Then Tone.  She and Deb got each other's, same as last year.  Just fun!

Sandy didn't get wine...

Linda didn't get chiness take out.

Now Allison picked her own back out!  She had brought scented candles and was afraid that they weren't good enough.  So we changed the rules and if anyone wanted those, then they could take it.  Then Allison had to take another gift.

Gloria...

Susan got the candles!

So Alison did get another bag.

Pat took this one!

Jane got snowflakes.

Sheila got a batiked cat panel!

Nellie got a beautiful plate.

Mellisa and her mom came to bee.  Linda gave her this painted barn board!

What do you do at your Christmas parties?!  Eating and giving of presents is standard I think.  But we give best presents at bee.  We all know each other so well and have such a good time.  We help each other out all year long, so to give back to each other is very easy to do.

I did some shopping for presents today.  I'm just starting to feel like it's Christmas.  Less than 2 weeks away!  I'd better kick my butt into gear!  People have been giving me dragons this year already!  It melts my heart!  Some people know me sooo well!  Great friends are the best to get you through the year!!  Thanks to everyone around the world for being there!!!
